About Us

Dear Diary Coffee is a neighborhood coffee shop located at 1212 Chicon St. in East Austin.

We're not a non-profit (yet), but we act a whole lot like one. I'm very proud of Dear Diary, its staff, and its supportive community.

• Coffee & Food
  Our menu is designed for conscientious consumers.

  • We serve a 100% vegan menu with lots of gluten free options
  • We partner with local vendors for food we don't make ourselves
  • Our coffee supply chain is 100% woman-owned / woman-led
  • We avoid making trash by serving our own house-made oat milk (Bricco Blends)

• Art
  Art and small business create culture. We know how difficult it can be to be a small retailer in Austin, so we try our best to help!

  • We sell work on behalf of dozens of local artists, and we're expanding this program very soon!
  • We help folks produce creative events, markets, meetups, etc.

• Friendships
  Cycling and camping aren't exactly on brand, but I personally really love these things, so we host outdoor activities anyway :P

  • We sponsor two women's bicycling teams
  • We host bike rides, camp outs, storytelling events, and other friendship building activities

• Baristas
  We attract super talented, career baristas. Because of them, our coffee is highly praised on review sites.

  • Our baristas are guarunteed consistent living wages, even if sales or tips are low
  • We are extremely transparent, and our baristas can learn anything they want about our financial progress and future plans at our quarterly "team thingies." They actively give feedback and weigh in on decisions.
  • We give our baristas a $5 bonus for each 5 star review that mentions them (or their cat) by name
  • Each time the company meets its quarterly goal, everyone gets a raise!

As you can see, a cup of coffee purchased at Dear Diary is worth so much more than just a drink.
