Creative opportunities

Weekend pop-ups

Bakers and makers, having any amount of retail space in Austin is such a privilege, and it makes us really happy that we can share it with you.

You can now reserve our big table during busy weekends for bakesales, craftsales, etc.

Parents, this is open to kids too. What better way to teach your kids math and finance?

First Fridays Fundraisers

In February, our vegan potluck benefitted Food Not Bombs. March 3rd all donations will go to A New Start Wildlife Rescue. Do you have a non-profit you'd like to add to our rotation?

Here's how it works. We have all the potlucks scheduled on Eventbrite. Each potluck has two types of ticket: attendee and benefactor. Folks who RSVP as attendees can donate if they want to. Whoever RSVPs as benefactor will receive that donation. Of course, we screen benefactors to make sure they are legit!

@deardiary_bike

Dang it. Y'all. I love bikes. I can't help it! I know Dear Diary is an art cafè, but can't a girl have more than one love?

Dear Diary is serving coffee at as many races as we can. We're basically at all the Capital City gravel races, and we'll be at the TMBRA race in Warda too. Follow along on our new IG account, deardiary_bike.

Catering

We've also been doing a lot more catering. This is bike related because so far we've 100% been hired by bike people! Ha ha. Thank you Michelle! And thank you Kimmi of Specialized Austin!

We hope to get more jobs like this under our belts this Spring.

The Children

Night Night Latte

No, we're not trying to knock your kiddo out. We love kids! Really. Uhh... Lemme start again. 💀

The Night Night is our no-caffeine latte made with our bar caramel. It's just 23 calories before you add milk, and all natural. It has a caramel flavor, so in that sense it's kind of like a caramel steamer. There are two key differences though: 1, it has a roasty flavor you don't get from basic caramel syrup and 2, it's brown. Like a latte!

We love how the Night Night looks so much like coffee kids and caffeine sensitive peeps can easily pretend it's the real thing.

We're donating Night Night coffee to the Davis Thompson Neighborhood family movie night. (See link at the top)

Kids Market

There's just nothing cuter than a mini capitalist. Hee hee

For realz, though. I think there's something really wonderful about being able to create a role for yourself in society. The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker... retail, especially, allows folks to use their passions like a spade and carve out their place in society. I love the tightly knit, village-like economy that is nested deep within Austin's larger ecosystem. I hate the idea of huge franchises and real estate conglomerates choking us out.

...Oh yeah. Children! So I really want to have like, a kid's market or something like that. But y'all. I'm burning the candle at all ends. Like, my candle is a cactus of wicks shooting out all over the place, and those are burning too. So I wonder if any of you parents out there would like to help me organize? It could be so cute! ♥

The End

Okay, I guess that's it. Thanks for reading to the end! And thanks for choosing Dear Diary Coffee in the mornings. There are a lot of amazing shops in Austin, but your coffee purchases at Dear Diary make all these community programs possible.

Love,
A. Litsa (and Colleen, Rachel, Meg, Miles, Grey, Violet, and Jessica!)
